Dr. Kulits is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist, who performs clear corneal, cataract surgery and plastic surgery of the eyelids. He earned his bachelors degree in natural sciences at the Johns Hopkins University. He graduated law school at the University of Washington and practiced in Washington state and South Dakota, before attending the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He completed his transitional residency at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and ophthalmology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kulits likes to develop relationships with his patients and always strives to offer the highest quality of individualized care. His patients often remark that he takes a lot of time answering their questions and never rushes an exam. The new business medical model appears to be undermining the physician-patient relationship and degrading healthcare delivery into an almost mechanical, assembly line process. The traditional way is to approach healthcare as a calling and to treat each patient as a special individual. Dr. Kulits takes the traditional approach, because that is the way medicine has always been practiced best.

Dr. Kulits is happily married with his wife Holly and enjoys spending time with his three sons and daughter, playing basketball and tennis or kayaking the Dan River. He is fluent in Spanish and has put it to great use on several mission trips.
